- Classification of Engines:
- Based on fuel type (Petrol, Diesel, LPG, CNG)
- Based on construction type (V-type, Inline, Horizontal, Vertical)
- Based on number of cylinders (Single, Multi-cylinder)
2. Engine Components and their Functions
- Engine Block: Functions and types (cast iron, aluminum)
- Cylinder Head, Pistons, Crankshaft: Functions, materials, and design
- Valves and Valve Mechanism: Types (inlet, exhaust), timing, operation
- Lubrication System: Types of lubricants, oil pumps, filters, maintenance
- Cooling System: Types (air-cooled, water-cooled), radiator, water pump, thermostat
- Fuel System: Carburetor, Fuel Injectors, Fuel Pumps, Diesel Injector Pumps
- Ignition System: Spark plugs, distributors, ignition coils, and timing
