SIMULATION OF SCOTT CONNECTION USING PSCAD

AIM:

To illustrate the use of the SCOTT connection by PSCAD simulation.

To show a furnace power supply

THEORY:

PSCAD is suitable to do the following studies,

  1.  EMT studies,

  2.  Insulation Cordination,

  3.  Renewable Energy Intergration studies,

  4.  Protection Studies

The Scott-T connection is used in an electric furnace installation where it is desired to operate two single-phase together and draw the balanced load from the three-phase supply. This simulation demonstrates the SCOTT connection in transformer, A balanced three supply is used to obtain a balanced two phase output (90 degree shift). Use the single phase multi winding transformer.
